Victorian Shop Conversion – A Complete Transformation This project involved a full reimagining and reconfiguration of a former Victorian shop, which had been partially converted into an art gallery and an unconventional family home. The original layout suffered from poor natural light, no central heating, no functioning bathroom, and limited access to the roof terrace. Our vision was to transform the property into a spacious and functional four-bedroom, three-bathroom family home, complete with a south-facing roof terrace and outdoor kitchen. To achieve this, we reconfigured the entire layout—moving staircases, adjusting floor and ceiling heights to enable terrace access, and carrying out a full interior fit-out through to final FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment). The house originally lacked period features and was structured as four rooms deep, with natural light available only at the front and rear. This made it essential to carefully plan the flow of natural light and ventilation throughout the new layout. Skylights and internal windows were strategically added, while rooms without external windows were given strong focal points—such as a wood-burning stove—to bring character and warmth. The result is a thoughtfully reimagined home that balances modern living with creativity and comfort.
